Amperage support

Amperage is a menu-bar battery app for MacBooks. It shows the figures macOS reports, says what they mean, and keeps a daily record so you can see how the battery is ageing.

The quickest way, from inside the app: Settings → Support → Email support… It opens a message with your app version, macOS version and raw battery readings already filled in, and the battery log attached if you leave that switched on. Add a line about what looks wrong and send. We read every message and reply within two working days.

Common questions

A figure doesn't match System Settings.

It should. Health, cycle count and capacity are the same figures System Settings and System Information show, read from macOS. Open Settings → "Raw readings (for support)" to see exactly what macOS reports; if the app shows something different, email the readings and we will fix it.

Time remaining shows "—", or differs from another app.

Time remaining is macOS's own estimate, marked "est." The app shows "Calculating…" while macOS is still working out an estimate, and "—" when macOS has none, when the Mac is on power and not charging, or when the estimate is out of range. Other apps that show a figure in those cases are guessing.

The trend says it needs more data.

The app saves one reading per day it runs. You get an early reading after 7 days and the full trend, with a projection to 80% health, after 30. Turn on "Start at login" in Settings so days aren't missed.

Does Amperage limit charging?

No. It reads the battery and tells you what the reading means. The 80% nudge is a notification, not a charge limiter.

Where is my data, and how do I get it out?

One plain-text file on your Mac: Settings → "Your data" shows the path, with Show in Finder and Delete. The trend window has Export CSV. Nothing leaves your Mac — see the privacy policy.

Alerts aren't appearing.

Check System Settings → Notifications → Amperage is allowed. A Focus or Do Not Disturb can hide or silence them; add Amperage to the Focus's allowed apps if you want them through. Settings → Alerts has a 10-second test alert.

Which app is draining the battery?

Amperage doesn't track per-app energy. The popover has a link that opens Activity Monitor — its Energy tab shows per-app use.
