Amperage privacy policy
The short version: Amperage collects no data and has no network access. Everything it reads and writes stays on your Mac.
What the app reads
Amperage reads your MacBook's battery figures from macOS: charge level, health, cycle count, current and original capacity, power in or out, temperature, and the time-remaining estimate macOS computes. These are the same figures System Settings and System Information show. The app reads them on your Mac and shows them on your Mac.
What the app stores
Two things, both on your Mac:

The battery log — one plain-text file, one row per day the app runs. Each row
holds the date and time, charge level, capacity figures, cycle count, charging state and power
draw. It lives at
~/Library/Containers/com.quietstudios.Amperage/Data/Library/Application Support/Amperage/battery-log.jsonl. You can open it in any text editor, show it in Finder, export it as CSV, or delete it from the app's Settings. Deleting it restarts the trend from that day. - Your settings — alert thresholds, whether alerts are on, and similar preferences, in the app's own preferences file.
Deleting the app removes both.
What leaves your Mac
Nothing, unless you send it yourself.
- The app runs in Apple's App Sandbox with no network entitlement. It cannot connect to the internet.
- No analytics, no usage tracking, no crash reporting of our own, no accounts, no third-party code.
- Alerts are local macOS notifications. No push server is involved.
- "Start at login" is a standard macOS login item.
The App Store privacy label for Amperage is Data Not Collected.
Amperage is not aimed at children and collects no data from anyone, of any age.
If you email support
Settings → Support → "Email support…" opens a new message in your own mail app. The draft contains the app version, your macOS version, your Mac's model identifier, the raw battery readings shown in Settings, and — if you leave "Attach the battery log" switched on — the log file above. The battery's serial number is not included. You see the whole message before it goes, and nothing is sent by the app itself.
We use what you send only to answer your question. It stays in our support mailbox; ask and we will delete it.
We keep support emails for up to 12 months after the last message, then delete them. We process them because you asked us a question (legitimate interest under UK GDPR). You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). We never use support emails for marketing.
Apple
Your purchase is handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy; we never see payment details. If macOS is set to share crash and usage data with app developers, Apple may pass us anonymised crash reports through App Store Connect. The app may ask once for a rating; the prompt is Apple's and Apple handles anything you give.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date. The app's behaviour on data — nothing collected, nothing sent — is a design decision, not a setting, and will not change quietly.
